Illustration Friday: Contraption

This week’s Illustration Friday topic is “contraption,” which I though was a perfect opportunity to showcase a new invention from my laboratory.

There’s a new dish being prepared in some of the world’s finest restaurants, and I wanted to get in on the ground floor, because I think this is the next big thing. It’s called “toasted bread” or more commonly “toast”.
I know what you’re thinking:
“Toasted bread? Why would I want to dry out an otherwise delicious, moist and chewy slice?”

While I’m not going to called you an uncultured ignoramus, I would respectfully suggest that you should TRY it before you pass such a crude judgment on something you know nothing about for crying out loud.

So anyway, I was thinking of ways that the preparation of toast could be brought the home market, and this is what I came up with. This is the head-mounted version, and the big issue I’m dealing with is REACHING THE TOAST, but I’m sure I’ll come up with a solution as the design process unfolds. Possibly a tremendous pair of chopsticks.

Illustration Friday: Renewal

By way of an explanation, nothing says renewal to me like a phoenix being reborn in the raging inferno of the biggest cup of coffee you’ve ever seen.

As an aside, I’ve been hitting the decaf for a while now, and that fills me with great joie de vivre even in the absence of the typical psychoactive stimulant.

As a further aside, the city seal of my town (Portland, Maine) sports a phoenix and the motto “Resurgam,” Latin for “I will rise again.” That on account of being burned down four times, I kid you not.
